Let’s be honest, after a couple weeks of Netflix, you’ll be wanting some new content. Maybe something educational? Or maybe you’re just after something a bit new and different in this lockdown time.
I’ve seen so many amazing opportunities and free shows that I’ve decided to compile a list here for you. Don’t worry, this isn’t just for your young people – in fact most of these links are for you 🙂
Theatre, shows and musicals:
The National Theatre is going to stream a free play every Thursday night
The Royal New Zealand Ballet is streaming a show every weekend during lockdown
The Metropolitan Opera has regular free streamings of Opera’s
The Digital Concert Hall now free for everyone. The Berliner Philharmoniker is doing free concerts!
NZSO (NZ Symphony Orchestra) is regularly sharing music at the moment – check out which free online concerts are available.
The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has free access to their concert recordings.
Museum asks people to recreate art from household items.
Fitness/Staying active:
You can now watch Les Mills workouts on TV thanks to TVNZ!
Staying Connected
Instead of watching another episode of something, why not call a friend, or facetime your grandparents or family? We all need to keep up the human connection, and we’re all going to get a bit bored, so go on, give someone a call. (You know grandma would love it)
Virtually getting out of the house:
You can do virtual tours of almost every major London museum and gallery
You can now take a virtual tour of Buckingham Palace and the Royal Collection
Keen for some virtual field trips?
I know this is probably meant for kids, but hey, who says you don’t want to watch a panda eat his breakfast, or watch penguins waddle around? (They would also make a great live background for the TV…)
Challenge yourself:
How to draw a Romantic Couple under umbrella Aluminum painting technique
Fender is giving you three months of guitar lessons online, for free
Free oniline Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori courses
Disney’s free drawing classes teach you how to sketch your favourite characters
I hope this has given you some new ideas and free things you didn’t know about before. Please share this post, comment, and head over to our facebook page where we’ll be posting more links and ideas as we come across them.
